Travel to Grenada

Grenada is an island nation in the southeastern Caribbean Sea including the southern Grenadines. Grenada is the second-smallest independent country in the Western Hemisphere (after Saint Kitts and Nevis). It is located north of Trinidad and Tobago, and south of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Grenada is a undulating, mountainous island, filled with fragrant spice trees and rare tropical flowers. Bordered by stunning beaches, along with picturesque towns, this luxuriant island has been a major source of nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and cocoa.

Within this volcanic island one can find cascading rivers and waterfalls, verdant rainforests, and one of the most breathtakingly beautiful mountain lakes. The capital of Grenada is St. George's. It has a horseshoe-shaped harbor and is surrounded by a pastel rainbow of dockside warehouses and the red-tiled roofs of traditional shops and homes.

The island of Grenada is the largest and the most populous island. As spices are grown in plenty here, it is known as ‘The Spice of the Caribbean’. It became independent in 1974 when the military coup brought a U.S.-Caribbean force in 1983. St George is its capital and Christianity is the main religion of the island.

It has become a popular tourist destination with its beautiful buildings, monuments and beaches. Tourists flock together to the island to enjoy, relax and experience the various attractions, festivals, events and activities. Its museums are also worth visiting as it gives amazing information on the history and development of the island. There are also many recreational centers such as parks and gardens that provide a relaxing atmosphere.

The island is also famous for its various outdoor activities such as walking, hiking, trekking, yachting, scuba diving & snorkeling, deep-sea fishing and water sports that can be experienced by people of all age groups.

Reaching the island is also not difficult. There are various options both by air and water. Point Salines International Airport is the main airport that serves the island. Ferries, boats, buses, taxis etc. comprise the public transport available for traveling around the island.

TA number of hotels, cottages, apartments, guesthouses and villas provide all modern amenities to its guests. Equipped with air-conditioning, pool, telephone and TV, they are very comfortable for the visitors. The delicious food they offer is also commendable. Most of the hotels are equipped with a restaurant that provides all types of cuisine such as European, North American, Asian besides the local Caribbean delicacies.
