Travel to St Vincent & the Grenadines

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an independent sovereign state in the Lesser Antilles chain of the Caribbean Sea. Its 389-km² territory consists of the main island of Saint Vincent and the northern two-thirds of the Grenadines. The country has a British colonial history and now part of the Commonwealth of Nations and CARICOM. Its capital is at Kingstown on Saint Vincent.

St. Vincent, chief island of the chain and is located west of Barbados. The island is mountainous and well forested. St. Vincent is dominated by the volcano Mount Soufrière. The main islands in the Grenadines are Bequia, Balliceau, Canouan, Mayreau, Mustique, Isle D'Quatre, Petit Saint Vincent, and Union Island.



The islands of St Vincent & the Grenadines is a part of the Windward Islands. First inhabited by the Ciboney, St Vincent was permanently inhabited by African slaves in 1635. It has many interesting sites that should not be missed. Gardens, churches and beaches include its main attractions that fascinate tourists. This northern most island became the political and commercial hub of the nation. Surrounded by coral reefs and blue waters, it is one of the most attractive destinations in Caribbean.

The restaurants in the islands provide all types of cuisines that are popular among the tourists visiting the island. It serves hot, spicy West Indian cuisine with continental and American fare. A wide selection of fruits and vegetables with lobster, crab, conch and other fresh seafood are the other main delicacies available in the restaurants. Barbecued goat and fresh shark are the other delicacies of the islanders.



Traveling to and from the island does not need much effort. Although direct flights are not available to the island, connection flights from the neighboring islands provide access to St Vincent. Public transport facilities available help people to travel from one island to another.

The various hotels, apartments, guesthouses in the island provide world-class accommodation to their guests. They also offer all modern amenities that range from the small to the luxurious.

It also provides wonderful shops that sell local crafts, books, cameras, binoculars, watches, jewellery etc. The islands are also known for local events and festivals that are celebrated with full zest and in high spirits.
